Search Halted for Missing Florida Swimmer

The search for a swimmer who went missing after diving into the water to help two 11-year-old girls has been halted.

The Palm Beach Post reports Edward "Butch" Garlinghouse Jr. disappeared into the waters off Singer Island Saturday afternoon.

Garlinghouse was one of four people who tried to rescue two children after they were swept into a wave.

The girls were brought to safety and everyone but Garlinghouse made it back to shore.

Dive teams, boats and helicopters searched for Garlinghouse on Saturday and Sunday but were not able to locate him.

Singer Island is located near Riviera Beach, which is just north of West Palm Beach.
