TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) -- Republican Gov. Rick Scott, whose campaign catchphrase is "It's working," is trying hard to get Floridians to like him. It's not working.
Scott's poll numbers have been low since he took office. It's not for lack of trying.
He tried social media outreach, then gave it up. He tried dressing casual, then gave it up. He tried doing "Let's Get to Work Days" but seems to have abandoned that, too.
It's not that Scott, who spent more than $70 million of his own to win election, isn't a nice guy. But opponents have tarred the ex-CEO as a man who bought the office and cares more about corporations than people.
Republican Party of Florida Chairman Lenny Curry says next year's election will be about issues and expressed confidence in Scott.
