Reporter: Press Release

Washington County Schools Will Remain Open Until Further Notice

This is an important message from Washington County School Superintendant Dr. Sandra Cook regarding Tropical Storm Isaac. All schools will be open Monday, August 27th but will follow the early release schedule. Decisions on future schools closure will be determined Monday afternoon after consulting with Emergency Management. Excessive rains could cause issues impacting bus travel. Please contact your school for further information.

The Board of County Commissioners has declared a Local State of Emergency in Washington County. Shelters are on standby and decisions about opening will be made Monday morning. Government Offices will be open for business.

Because of the uncertainty of the storm track and intensity, we caution all residents to stay tuned to local media updates and remain prepared for potential impacts.
