Scam Warning: Free Airline Tickets

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office has received several calls from Bay County citizens in reference to a scam involving free airline tickets.

The scam begins with a notice in the mail from a company called US Airlines regarding free airline tickets. The notice requests a telephone reply by February 9, 2012. Once the phone call is made, personal information is requested in order for the victim to remain eligible for the tickets.

Any request for personal information or money through the mail in order to claim a prize is a scam. Citizens are encouraged never to give personal information to anyone over the phone unless you are certain you know the person you are speaking with.

If you believe you have been victimized by a scam or have any questions regarding scams please contact the Bay County Sheriff’s Office or your local law enforcement.
