A local group is increasing collection efforts to bring Christmas cheer to seniors across the Wiregrass.

SARCOA’s "Santa for Seniors" program still has more than 50 seniors who need sponsors.

They're asking for things like a house coat, slippers, toilet paper, or vitamins.

Organizers say seniors are often forgotten during this time of the year.

"Through the ‘Santa for Seniors’ program you know you're getting that extra visit for Christmas. You know that someone thought of you and that went through of trouble of buying this present, wrapping it and bringing it to your home," said SARCOA Community Education Coordinator Jessica Franklin.

The collection drive ends this Saturday at 2:00p.m.

Donations can be taken to the former National Guard Armory on Westgate Parkway.
