Salvation Army Does Not Solicit Door to Door

Officials with the Salvation Army in Dothan are warning people to beware of phonies who are supposedly raising funds on their behalf.

Major Alan Phillips, commanding officer of the Salvation Army in Dothan, says his office received a call from a donor who had been approached by two women soliciting cash donations door-to-door.

According to Major Phillips, the Salvation Army never under any circumstances solicits door-to-door.

"When we do solicit at Christmas time, our workers and volunteers have identification badges," he added.

Residents who are approached by anyone soliciting donations for the Salvation Army door-to-door should turn them away and notify the nearest law enforcement agency.
