SCOTUS to Hear Same-Sex Marriage Challenges

The U.S. Supreme Court will soon tackle the controversial issue of same-sex marriage.
Justices agreed to hear two constitutional challenges to state and federal laws that deal with the recognition of allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry.
Oral arguments are expected to begin in March, with a ruling coming by late June.
The court's agreement to hear the cases comes just weeks after voters in three states approved same-sex marriages.
Gay and lesbian couples may now legally marry in nine states and the District of Columbia.
Many other states recognize domestic partnerships or civil unions.
