Rush for Good Seats for July 4 Celebration

The Fourth of July festivities in Boston may be several hours away.

But many people arrived well in advance to get a good seat.

Here you can see them making a mad dash to claim their spots this morning at the Charles River Esplanade's Hatch Shell.

The Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular describes itself as "the premier Independence Day celebration in the nation."

Organizers expect hundreds of thousands of spectators in person -- and millions more at home watching the event on prime-time T-V.

Tonight's festivities are expected to include a concert and a fireworks display.

Singer Jennifer Hudson and the Celtic punk rock group the Dropkick Murphys are expected to perform.
