Rotary Club Honors Paul Harris Fellow's

The Dothan-Houston County Rotary Club recently recognized eight of its members with one of Rotary’s most esteemed honors, a Paul Harris Fellow (PHF).

“Paul Harris was the founder of Rotary and this awards program was created to fund many Rotary Foundation programs”, states Dothan-Houston County Rotary Club President Susan Wilkins.

“The Paul Harris Fellow is an award given to club members who have provided $1000 dollars to the Rotary foundation, making the award one of the most prestigious awards in any Rotary club”.

“Programs the Rotary Foundation support include Polio plus – a program designed to eradicate Polio from the world”, Wilkins points out.

During the regular club meeting on Tuesday, February the 25th, an awards ceremony was held for eight members of the Dothan-Houston County Rotary Club to recognize them as a Paul Harris Fellow.

During the ceremony, Wilkins presented the eight Rotary club members with special Paul Harris Fellow certificate and a Paul Harris Fellow gold pin.

The Dothan-Houston County Rotary Club members recognized as Paul Harris Fellows were as follows:

- Larry Kirkland
- Harry Howell (two time Paul Harris Fellow)
- Jan Efurd
- Kevin Walding
- Doug Perrearult
- Stafford Gregory
- Steve Thompson
- Terry Harris

“The Paul Harris Fellow Award is the highest honor a club can bestow on a Rotary member and the award acknowledges "service above self" which that individual has offered to their community, their nation and indeed to the world”, states Wilkins.

“It is such a pleasure to see these club members honored as a Paul Harris Fellow”, stated Wilkins.

“Our Rotary Club’s motto is “Service above Self” and these recent Paul Harris Fellows have definitely demonstrated this motto and our club was pleased to be able to honor them.”

“It is a true pleasure to be able to serve alongside so many wonderful people in our club that has such a spirit of giving back to our community.” Wilkins added.

The Dothan-Houston County Rotary Club is a local civic organization that is part of Rotary International.

The club has a membership of nearly 150 local business men and women residing in the Wiregrass area whose mission is service above self.

The club is dedicated to being community minded and donates time and funds to many local area non-profit organizations, community charitable projects and philanthropic events in the Wiregrass Region to assist with the improvement of the local community.

The club meets every Tuesday at the Dothan Country Club at noon.
