A Houston County school is getting some improvements.
At the Tuesday night Houston County Board of Education the board unanimously agreed to pass phase one of the Houston County High School’s reroofing project.
The school’s cafeteria has been leaking for the last six months and has gotten so bad that activities have had to be moved to other locations.
“They usually have beauty pageants in the cafeteria and things but the leaking was so bad they had to move some of those venues somewhere else and that was the reason why the board declared it an emergency,” explained Tim Pitchford, Superintendent of Houston County Schools.
The roof cannot be repaired while students are in school so construction will have to wait until at least Christmas break.
