Roby Leads Bi-partisan CODEL to Afghanistan

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Monday, U.S. Representative Martha Roby (R-AL) returned from a four-day Congressional Delegation (CODEL) to the Middle East, including her third visit to Afghanistan.

Roby, who chairs the House Armed Services Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, led a bi-partisan delegation of female Members of Congress to evaluate and promote the role of Afghan women.

The trip included a stop in the United Arab Emirates where Rep. Roby visited with military officials. During her time in Afghanistan, Rep. Roby meet with Afghan defense officials, U.S. military leaders, and Afghan women to evaluate the current situation in Afghanistan, with a special emphasis on the evolving role for women in the region.

During the trip, Rep. Roby also visited with members of the 908th Airlift Wing, which is based out of Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama.
