BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) -- Manatee County officials say they will begin fining horseback riders who aren't picking up their animals' waste along a popular beach.
Reports show that some riders along the Palma Sola Causeway have upset neighbors and beachgoers because the horses are leaving behind unsightly manure on the sand.
The causeway has become a popular spot for horseback riding over the last few years, in part because it is one of the few places in the state that allows it along an easily-accessible beach.
Officials also decided to erect signs urging horseback riders to clean up after their animals.
