OAK GROVE, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky State Police say an Alabama father and his two daughters are dead after a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 24 near the Kentucky-Tennessee line. Michael Mahan of Flat Rock, Ala., was driving a Toyota Camry west on I-24 when it crossed the median into the eastbound lanes and struck a U-Haul.
MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- Gov. Robert Bentley has set a goal of raising teachers' pay by close to 10 percent over three years. Bentley told a group of retired teachers that getting close to 10 percent is reasonable because the state's economy is improving and tax collections for the education budget are picking up.
MOBILE, Ala. (AP) -- The Alabama Forestry Commission is sending extra firefighters to south Alabama as weather conditions threaten to spark additional wildfires in an area that's already seen several blazes. Four fires in Mobile and Washington counties are being investigated as arsons.
DECATUR, Ala. (AP) -- A new plant in Decatur that makes polyester film used in potato chip bags and other food packaging is ready to begin production. Polyplex plans to start up its $187 million plant in the coming week. About 100 workers have been hired at the plant making an average annual wage of $48,000.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- The University of Miami filed a motion with the NCAA on Friday to have the case against its athletic department thrown out altogether, citing massive improprieties with how the investigation was conducted. The NCAA alleged that some Miami officials looked the other way when presented with evidence of booster Nevin Shapiro's wrongdoing.
BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Boynton Beach police say officers responding to a bar brawl saw a man stab another man several times. He later died. Police say 27-year-old Vakhtang Magradze also attacked two bar employees and a police officer who tried to subdue him.
ZEPHYRHILLS, Fla. (AP) -- Autopsies show that two Icelandic skydivers died from blunt trauma during a jump last weekend. The men jumped separately, not in tandem, and video taken from a helmet camera showed the instructor trying to pull the student's release cord in the moments before they died.
BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) -- A Tampa Bay area man reportedly shot and killed a dog after it bit his son's finger off. The boy stuck his left hand through the slots in a cage to pet the dog Friday evening. The dog bit the boy, severing his pinky and injuring his forearm.

ATLANTA (AP) -- A grand jury has indicted about three dozen educators in a standardized test cheating scandal that rocked Atlanta's public school system. The cheating scandal was one of the largest in the nation. A 2011 investigation found cheating on standardized tests by nearly 180 educators in 44 Atlanta schools.
ATLANTA (AP) -- The final days of the General Assembly's annual session were a flurry of activity, but the overall tenor of the 40-day effort was smoother than usual. Gov. Nathan Deal got most everything he wanted in a $41 billion budget for state government. There are also new rules that place some limits on lobbyist spending on public officials.
TYBEE ISLAND, Ga. (AP) -- The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a crash that killed one person on Tybee Island. It happened late Friday on Highway 80, which links the island beach community to Savannah on the mainland.
TOWNSEND, Ga. (AP) -- The last surviving original member of the Gullah singing group the McIntosh County Shouters has died at age 97. Services for Lawrence McKiver were scheduled Saturday at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Townsend, where the congregation is credited with having kept alive the African-American song style known as ring shouting.
