Rainfall Causes Sewer Overflow at Two Dothan City Locations

By  |

The City of Dothan is experiencing a sanitary sewer overflow at a manhole behind 108 Camellia Drive and a manhole in the drainage ditch near 675 W. Inez Road.

In a press release from the city, the overflow is due to substantial rainfall. Sewage has been released into Rock Creek and Cypress Creek and the City of Dothan wants to advise area residents and the public to avoid physical contact with waters and contaminated areas adjacent to the affected area as they may pose a health risk.

Signs have been posted around Rock and Cypress Creeks warning citizens to avoid the water and the area. If there is contact with the affected water, wash the contacted area with soap and water. Furthermore, all objects that have come into contact with the affected water should be cleaned and sanitized.

WTVY is heading to both locations listed above. We will have full report on this information tonight on WTVY News 4.
