Rainfall Causes Overflow of Untreated Sewage

By  |

The large amount of rainfall has caused the lift station near the intersection of Joan Avenue and North Lagoon Drive in Panama City to overflow.

The overflow has caused a discharge of untreated sewage into the waters of the Grand Lagoon.

Sewage contamination of water can expose bather to intestinal viruses, bacteria and parasites.

The Florida Department of Health in Bay County advices against swimming in the Grand Lagoon between Joan Ave and Thomas Drive until further notice.

For more information, you may contact the Florida Department of Health in Bay County at (850) 872-4455 Ext. 1268.
