The Quality Deer Management Association wants to study the country's deer population.
The group says the number of white-tail deer is down.
It attributes the decline to several factor, including predators and over harvesting.
The group has planned the first-ever North American white-tail summit in March.
It will be in Missouri.
In Alabama, doe harvest was reduced in the northern part of the state this season.
The State Conservation Department is also paying Auburn to do an initial 3-year study on the impacts of coyotes on fawn recruitment.
