Providence Christian Hosts Ribbon Cutting

Emory Latta, who is head of Providence Christian School, says he is satisfied with the rate in which the school is growing.

"We're blessed because actually we've been needing a space for a long time and it's just coming together in the last year, now it's actually started taking place and now it's happened."

On Friday, Providence Christian held a dedication ceremony to celebrate the addition of a new science lab and field house on campus.

"I don't know, it's been about ten or twelve years with athletics without any kind of a locker room or anything for the students and then the science lab, we've had one for about ten years in the gym but it was small and it was made for about ten or twelve students at a time and our classes are much larger than that now."

The new science lab even has state-of-the-art tables seen in university labs.

"In honors chemistry, students are required to do a certain number of lab work for that particular course and with these facilities that just means that any lab that we need to do in a high school situation that we are capable and able to do right now."

"And the field house…it will serve multiple purposes. It includes an athletic training room, workout facilities, dressing rooms for both boys and girls as well as athletic department offices."

"Almost eighty percent of our students in grades 7th through the 12th participate in sports here so this is a much needed facility for us. Some of those facilities we just didn't have before and now we have more than enough."

Latta says these projects have been underway for sometime and now he's ready for the students to finally be able to take advantage of the new additions.
