Prevent Car Break-ins

By  |

Law enforcement officers are re-enforcing how important it is to lock your doors.

They say there has been a few car break-ins this week.

Authorities say there's a surprisingly large amount of people who do not lock their vehicles.

Officials say unlocked cars are easy targets for thieves.

They say it is a crime of opportunity.

"Most criminals are opportunists and they are not going to work real hard if the doors are unlocked they are going to take advantage of it so take a few seconds lock a door and they are going to walk right on by to the next car," said Investigator Curtis Stephens of the Dothan Police Department.

Officers recommend you put any valuable items out of sight or remove them from the vehicle altogether and to always lock your vehicle.
