Joe Biden's debate performance tonight is getting a thumbs up from the president.

Reporters caught up with President Obama post-debate at Joint Base Andrews.

President Obama said, "I'm going to make a special point of saying I thought Joe Biden was terrific. I could not be prouder of him. I thought he made a very strong case. And you know I really think that his passion for making sure that the economy grows for the middle class came through so I'm very proud of him."

A C-N-N poll of debate watchers shows 48-percent that Congressman Paul Ryan won.

44 percent thought Biden came out on top.
