Dothan dispatch took a call around 6:55 this morning about a man shooting a firearm.
Reports were that the man was in his front yard and fired into a moving car.
Dothan Police sent the call to Midland City Police.
When they arrived on the scene, the man was headland police officer Keith Rinehardt.
Rinehardt was inside his home, on the 100 block of County Road 75 and had apparently been in a domestic dispute with his wife earlier.
He had also been drinking. Officers say they're not sure how much.
She was able to leave the home unharmed and made the call to police.
Officers say they began negotiating with Rinehardt and he surrendered quickly.
The situation came to an end around 9:30 this morning.
No one was injured.
Rinehardt was sent to the Dale County jail for processing and is facing charges of domestic violence, menacing and shooting into an occupied vehicle.
Midland City dispatch has confirmed the situation is over.

A man barricaded himself in his 605 Midland Michigan Avenue home and is holding his wife hostage.
He's armed with an assault rifle.
The man could be a current or former police officer.
Not sure which department he could be with, if any.
