BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Police are investigating a drive-by shooting in downtown Birmingham that left one man dead.

Reports say that 22-year-old Oscar Wayne Johnson died early Sunday morning after several suspects in a white vehicle fired their weapons at him at about 2 a.m.

Police say two police officers and a security guard nearby responded to the scene and fired at the suspects. None of the suspects was injured.

The suspects later abandoned their vehicle, which police found a short time after the shooting. Police took two suspects into custody who were trying to leave in another vehicle that was there to pick them up.

State and local authorities are conducting a routine review of the officer-involved shooting.
