Police Evacuate Opp High School Students after Bomb Scare

Police evacuated students at Opp High School Friday after a bomb scare.

The call came in Friday morning and right now police nor school officials are releasing much information.

Opp police didn't release any information nor were they available for a comment.

Superintendent Michael Smithart wasn't available but he did release a statement.

"We had a very benign incident where an idiot with nothing better to do elected to disrupt the educational process for our students. Our administrators took the appropriate steps to secure our students. We want to thank the Opp Police Department, the Covington County Sheriff Department, local ABC officers and the Drug Task Force for their assistance. We have resumed our school day."

Opp High School's principal Ron Snell, he didn't confirm a bomb threat but he did say there was drill at the school.
