Police: Damage at Dem Office Unlikely From Shot

Police are discounting claims that a bullet caused a window to shatter at Democratic Party headquarters in Mobile.

A department spokesman tells the Press-Register the window appears to have been damaged previously and may have shattered on its own.

Police are continuing to investigate.

The Democratic Party sent a statement saying a bullet hit a front window at the office about 11:45 a.m. Wednesday.

No one was hurt. The chairman of the Mobile County party, state Rep. Napoleon Bracy, says volunteers and party officials were inside working at the time.
