Police Arrest 2 Homeless Men in Ala. Bank Robbery

DECATUR, Ala. (AP) -- Police in Decatur say they have charged two homeless men with robbing a bank after they were arrested trying to flee in a pickup truck.

Reports say police in nearby Hartselle spotted the getaway truck and arrested the suspects Friday afternoon about 30 minutes after the robbery at the Peoples Bank in Decatur.

Police say 28-year-old John David VanStennis and 51-year-old Joseph Michael Borden have been charged with first-degree robbery. They are being held at the Decatur City Jail. It was unknown Saturday if they had attorneys.

Police say one of the men walked into the bank with a handgun and demanded money from a teller. The other suspect drove the Ford pickup truck they used to flee. Witnesses were able to describe the getaway truck to police.
