'Passive Park for People with Dogs' Grant Approved

DOTHAN,AL--Tuesday city commissioners agreed to accept a $50,000 grant from the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

Accepting the grant means the city will construct a "Passive park for people with dogs" at eastgate park.

They will also build restrooms and a pavilion.

"Anytime we can invest in our parks like this, add bathrooms and a pavilion and allow people to enjoy their quality of life, it's a good thing for dothan," said Mayor Mike Schmitz.

A date for construction has not yet been set.
