Partin Arraigned on Child Sex Charge

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) -- A 36-year-old southern Alabama man is facing charges for child sex abuse and transporting a stolen car across state lines.

Authorities say Charles Dean Partin, of Clayton, was arraigned Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama.

Officials say Partin was being investigated in October by the Alabama Department of Human Resources for an improper relationship with a minor.

To avoid the investigation, officials say Partin stole a car in Dothan and took the unidentified teen from Alabama to Tennessee and Texas.

An Amber Alert was issued for the teen, and authorities found the two in Ohio.

Authorities say Partin could face a minimum of 10 years in prison, and a fine of up to $250,000.
