OZARK -- Ozark Police arrived on the scene of a shooting in Ozark near the intersection of Young Avenue and Yancey Street around 10:00 p.m Upon arrival, law enforcement and rescue crews found 17 year old Christian Alexander Markoff on the road on Yancey Street.
The victim was transported by Ozark Ambulance Service to the Dale Medical Center where he later died as a result of his injuries.
Agents with the 33rd Judicial Circuit Violent Crimes Task Force responded to the scene, as well as the Ozark Police Department's Criminal Investigative Division. Investigators worked around the clock following several leads. Police are not releasing any motive at this time but said the weapon used is a 9 mm.
Investigators used several technological advantages during the investigation which helped identify several persons of interest.
Around 8:00 a.m., the Ozark Police Department's Special Operation Group executed a search warrant and took two suspects into custody. They were brought to headquarters. After questioning and a consultation with the District Attorney, 18 year old Quashawn Marquise Knight and a 15 year old juvenile were charged with murder.
Knight was placed in the Dale County Jail without bond. The juvenile was released to the Alabama Department of Youth Services and transported to the Southeast Alabama Diversion Center.
The investigation is still ongoing and officials said additional arrests will be made.
