Over $9000 Raised For SIDS

You may remember the story of three month old Sealie Harrell in Blakely.

In august, he passed away from "sudden infant death syndrome" or SIDS.

This weekend, his parents held a benefit barrel race and team roping to raise money and awareness for the disease.

They say the turnout was overwhelming.

They had 119 entries into their barrel races and 30 participants in the team roping event that raised $9000 for the Baby Butterfly Foundation.

A couple in Georgia created that foundation when they lost their child to SIDS.

"They also just really raise awareness and support parents who have gone through this. They supported me and they just gave me courage to speak for him and live through him," said Alicia Harrell.

The foundation provides counseling services and bereavement assistance.
