AN ELBA MAN CHARGED WITH BOTH MURDER AND ATTEMPTED MURDER IS "BEHIND BARS" IN THE COVINGTON COUNTY JAIL
HIS BOND ON A BOND OF ONE MILLION 500-THOUSAND DOLLARS.
23-YEAR-OLD KANAVIS COLE IS CHARGED WITH FATALLY SHOOTING DEMETRICE HINES AND WOUNDING SEVERAL OTHERS DURING A BIRTHDAY PARTY AT THE "LITTLE HARLEM" NIGHTCLUB IN OPP EARLY SUNDAY MORNING.
THE 20-YEAR-OLD OPP MAN LATER DIED FROM HIS WOUNDS.
TODAY DURING A NEWSCONFERENCE, OPP POLICE CHIEF MIKE MCDONALD AND AUTHORITIES GAVE DETAILS OF WHAT REPORTEDLY TOOK PLACE.
KANAVIS COLE OF ELBA ALLEGEDLY BEGAN FIRING A HANDGUN AFTER BEING BUMPED ON THE DANCE FLOOR.
WITNESSES SAY THERE WERE BETWEEN TWO AND THREE HUNDRED PEOPLE INSIDE THE CLUB AT THE TIME. THERE WAS PANDEMONIUM AND A STAMPEDE OF PEOPLE RUSHING TO GET OUT.
COVINGTON COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY SAYS HE DOES "NOT" BELIEVE THIS WILL BE A DEATH PENALTY CASE IF IN FACT KANAVIS COLE IS FOUND "GUILTY" OF CAPITAL MURDER IN THE DEATH OF 20-YEAR-OLD DEMETRIC HINES OF OPP. COLE IS IN THE COVINGTON COUNTY JAIL UNDER A BOND OF ONE-MILLION-500 THOUSAND DOLLARS…
