One Billion Rising in Dothan

Dothan, AL - Some local groups are joining with other activists for One Billion Rising.
It's a global movement to end violence against women and girls.

Saturday, a public service announcement was shot WTVY for the event.

On February 14from noon until 1, MMOM Movement and the The House of Ruth will hold a dance party in Justice Park.

There will be music, dancers, and food.

It's all to raise awareness, because 1 in 3 women across the world will be victim of physical or sexual violence during her lifetime.

"Everybody should go simply because it's just a good thing to do, and it's fun. You're not only doing something good for the people but you're also doing something good for yourself. You're going to make yourself happy. You make look like a goofball doing it, but it's going to make you laugh. It's going to make you smile. There's no reason not to do it," said Nick Friend, videographer.
