On the Ballot: Florida Constitution Amendment #5

Also known as the “Florida Supreme Court Amendment”, Amendment Number Five makes some changes to the existing state court.

It would change the rules of repealing certain rules of the court and limit the ability to re-adopt rules already repealed by the court.

Finally, it would make all appointments to the Florida Supreme Court subject to a confirmation by the state senate.

Supporters say this would speed along the review of both civil and criminal cases, while the opposition fears an imbalance of power between the state branches.
