On the Ballot: Florida Constitution Amendment #11

Amendment Number 11 on Florida’s 2012 ballot deals with tax exemptions for seniors.

If passed, it would give the state legislature the power to allow counties and cities to offer additional tax exemptions on the residences of low-income senior citizens.

Supporters say it would help the elderly who have fixed incomes. This assistance could go towards medical bills and helping them remain in their homes longer.

Those opposed say the taxes are needed for local governments and schools to continue full operation.
