UPDATE: Okaloosa County Shooting Investigation

UPDATE - Thursday, August 2, 2012

A woman who suffered multiple gunshot wounds outside her Fort Walton Beach area home Wednesday night is identified as 32-year old Tamera Sheffield.

Okaloosa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the intersection of South Avenue and Thornhill Road around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday after witnesses say a man pulled a gun and shot Sheffield multiple times during an argument in the street. The shooter then jumped into a car and sped away. The car was later recovered on Greenwood Avenue and is being processed for evidence.

The incident took place near Sheffield’s home at 101 Thornhill Road. She was flown by medical helicopter to a Pensacola hospital where at last word she was listed in serious condition.

The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting that took place around 5:15 p.m. this evening on South Avenue in the Fort Walton Beach area.

The Communications Center received a 9-1-1 call that a woman had been shot in the street.

Emergency crews arrived to find a female on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.
She was taken to a Pensacola hospital by medical helicopter and was initially listed in serious condition.

Investigators are interviewing potential witnesses.
