The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office took a Laurel Hill man into custody on outstanding warrants of burglary and larceny following a three hour stand-off at his home on Ludlam Road.

Deputies were first called to 8472 Ludlam Road around 10:44 Thursday morning after receiving a report of a possible burglary in progress.

They determined instead that the person believed to be hiding in the home was 38-year old fugitive Michael Thames. Deputies had been searching for Thames on charges stemming from a burglary and theft at a home on Old Ebenezer Road in November.

A perimeter was set up around the area until the OCSO Fugitive Warrants personnel, along with the agency’s Special Response Team could respond.

Investigators were able to make phone contact with Thames inside the home and eventually persuaded him to come out without incident around 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
