Okaloosa Co. Launches Tourism Website for Residents

OKALOOSA COUNTY, FL - A web page has been created with residents in mind instead of tourists. Not only does the webpage provide information on tourist development tax collections (TDT), members of the Tourist Development Council (TDC), ordinances and state statutes, policies and procedures, etc., but the new web page will also be updated regularly to provide tourism news, opportunities to be more involved and the opportunity to view TDC meetings or view agendas and minutes. “Hopefully this page will clarify any confusion on the complexities of Tourist Development and provide answers to citizens’ questions,” stated Chairman Commissioner Don Amunds. Visit www.okaloosafl.com and select Tourist Development under Departments in the drop menu.

Tourists will still be able to visit www.emeraldcoastfl.com for visitor information, and there is a link to the visitor site from the department web page as well. Additionally, the Tourism Department has a new film commission page, which can be accessed from either website or at www.filmemeraldcoast.com. Meet new Tourism Director Daniel O’Byrne by tuning into Okaloosa Today Show or watching the segment online at www.okaloosafl.com, select Social Media page on Home and YouTube. O’Byrne has been on the job just over a month and brings his “practical experiences, management skills and education” to the position of tourism director. For more information, call 850-651-7131 or email emeraldcoast@co.okaloosa.fl.us.
