Notable Home Video Releases – Week of 3/12/13: “Rise of the Guardians,” “Who Framed Roger Rabbit,” “Spongebob”

Santa Claus is a hero, the world of animation and live-action meet, underwater hi-jinx continues, and more in just some of the week's most notable home video releases.

Here are some of the notable home video releases in the United States (Region 1) for the week of March 12th, 2013:

“Rise of the Guardians” (Dreamworks, Rated PG, Blu-Ray/DVD) – Based on a series of children's novels, the latest Dreamworks animated feature to hit home video has a fantasy-action spin on the most fantastic figures of the holidays such as Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny. Special features on the Blu-Ray release include a documentary on the making of the film and an audio commentary.

“Who Framed Roger Rabbit: 25th Anniversary Edition” (Disney, Rated PG, Blu-Ray/DVD) – The 1980s Disney classic starring Ed Asner and Bob Hoskins as well as a multitude of animated characters gets a special Blu-Ray/DVD combination release for its 25th anniversary. Extras on this release include Roger Rabbit animated shorts, an audio commentary and a deleted scene.

“Spongebob Squarepants: The Complete Eighth Season” (Nickelodeon, DVD) – On the air since 1999, the enduring animated series sees its eighth season released on DVD for the first time. The release contains all 26 episodes of the 2011-2012 broadcast season.
