On Valentine’s Day 2013, Nintendo gave some love to Mario’s long-time sidekick by declaring 2013 the “Year of Luigi” and announcing several new games and content for games in the process.
Firstly, for the Nintendo 3DS handheld, “Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon” will be releasing in late March. The sequel to the GameCube launch title, Luigi’s Mansion will not only let the single player hunt ghosts, but will feature multi-player as well.
Also coming for Nintendo’s 3D-capable handheld is a new role-playing game, “Mario & Luigi: Dream Team.” The latest installment in the handheld-exclusive series features the Mario Brothers, but this time is set in the dream world of Luigi.
Most unique of all is “New Super Luigi U.” This will not be a fully-new game, but additional downloadable content for the already-released Wii U title, “New Super Mario Brothers U.” This will not only allow the player to play as Luigi, but do so on eighty new stages.
Finally, Luigi will also take part in a new Mario Golf sequel, also coming to the Nintendo 3DS handheld.
