New Tropical Depression forms in the Pacific Ocean

The fourth Tropical Depression of the 2012 Pacific season has formed.

As of 2:00am Pacific Time Wednesday, Tropical Depression 4-E, with sustained winds of 35 miles per hour, is approximately 470 miles off of the coast of Manzanillo, Mexico.

It is moving to the west/northwest at 12 miles per hour, taking it away from the country of Mexico. Because of this, 4-E is not currently a threat to land.

Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center out of Miami do expect the system to strengthen over the next few days. If it does indeed reach Tropical Storm status, it will be named Daniel.

Meanwhile, in the Atlantic Ocean, there are no active tropical systems at this time.
