New Sign Regulations Head to Dothan City Commission

If you want to put up a sign in the city of Dothan you'll soon have more regulations to follow.

The planning commission is ready to submit its recommendation to city commissioners.

Members say they're not looking to hurt businesses.

They just want to make the city attractive to new companies.

"The biggest change that the new regulation contains is that we establish some standards, standards that deal with the size of the sign, how high it can be, how many you can have on your property, how bright they can be, we have several digital signs out some of those signs can be very bright," said Dothan City Planning Commission Director Todd McDonald.

Officials say the regulations may not be on the commission's agenda until sometime next year.
