New Fleet of Chargers

Running away from a police officer is never a good idea, but the Dothan Police Department now has 11 new reasons why you really shouldn't try it.

Their regular go to patrol car, the Ford Crown Victoria, isn't being made anymore.

So to replace older models, the department is going with the charger; 11 of them.

They say only seasoned officers can get behind the wheel, since the car can hit 50 miles an hour and barley feel like it's moving.

The 2012 models cost the city of Dothan around 24 thousand dollars.

The 2013 models also cost around 24 thousand dollars.

Those numbers don't include outfitting the cars with equipment.

Within the next couple of months the department should have a total of 16 chargers.
