Someone with end stage kidney disease has to either get a transplant or be on dialysis. Causing many patients in Henry County to make a lengthy drive to units in Dothan or Eufaula multiple times a week.
But now a new DaVita Dialysis unit in Abbeville is opening its doors to more than 15 patients.
Sandee Alsobrooks, Regional Operations Director said, "We know that sometimes after dialysis patients don't feel well. And have a hard time getting home or getting to and from dialysis. So we really hope this will be beneficial to the local community,"
The last minute touches are being put on the center and it will be open in the next few weeks.
For now it will be open for dialysis Monday, Wednesday and Friday, but they hope to expand to six days a week.
