Southeast Alabama Medical Center has been servicing the community for several years now.
Recently the hospital has made some major changes.
When you come to the cafeteria at Southeast Alabama Medical Center, you will now see this,
a newly renovated cafeteria with services that will cater to everyone.
"We started an ambassador program, which basically means that we're bringing restaurant style service to our patients here at SAMC," says Ron Brown, Assistant Director of Nutrition and Food Services.
Along with the new upscale dining services are the health benefits.
"Some of the other diets, the renal diets, diabetics, they can tailor their meals a little bit, so we try to help them when we can," says Ron Brown, Assistant Director of Nutrition and Food Services.
It's a $500, 000 investment, that hospital management hopes will bring several members of the community to enjoy the experience.
"We've renovated, this cafeteria, I know people come after church, on Sunday’s to kind get a home cooked meal, often times we do fried chicken, collard greens, and some of the old southern favorites," says Ron Brown, Assistant Director of Nutrition and Food Services.
So once you take advantage of everything, new in the cafeteria, you can down to Creme de la Creme and get you a nice sweet, cool treat.
"Hospital administration, wanted something, from our employees to kind of get away from the stress of everyday work, come down and enjoy the environment when they have a lunch break," says Ron Brown, Assistant Director of Nutrition and Food Services.
"The staff works, hard they're not really available to go outside the hospital, so anything your can bring to them is pretty much a benefit," says Owner of Crème de la Crème, Enrique Simmons.
A benefit for patients, doctors, and visitors of the hospital.
The idea for the renovation and nutrition upgrades have been in the works for about a year and a half.
