Netflix Passes 50 Million Customers

Netflix says it's passed 50 million customers worldwide.

Despite a recent hike in subscription costs, the internet video service added 570,000 subscribers in the U.S. during the second quarter of the year.

But while the streaming service is growing, the company's DVD-by-Mail rental service continues to lose customers.

Netflix attributes its growing video catalog and unique programming like "Orange is the New Black" and "House of Cards" for its growth.
