National Association of Letter Carriers "Stamp Out Hunger" Food Drive Collections Up from Last Year

“Stamp Out Hunger” food drive collections for 2014 have surpassed last year’s drive.

In 2013, the Wiregrass Area United Way Food Bank received 25,437 pounds of food as a result of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual food drive. Saturday the Food Bank received 26,757 pounds of food despite the weather. The food will continue to come in as missed food is collected in the next couple of days.

The Food Bank appreciates everyone who donated food today, all of the hard working letter carriers who worked overtime out of the goodness of their hearts, the volunteers who helped unload mail trucks and sort food, and the media who helped us get the word out to the public so an extra 20,904 meals to the Wiregrass. Thank you for helping us to succeed in our mission of “feeding the needy from the heart.”
