NTSB Recommends New Parasailing Regulations

The National Transportation Safety Board is recommending new regulations for parasailing operations.

In a newly-released report, the NTSB recommends the U.S. Coast Guard create a special license endorsement for parasail operators. Right now, they only have to fulfill the same level of Coast Guard licensing and inspection as a charter boat service.

The board also made more safety recommendations to the Federal Aviation Administration and National Association of State Boating Law Administrators.

The board looked at eight parasailing accidents for the report, including an accident in Panama City Beach last summer in which two Indiana teenagers were critically injured.
