An online poll with millions of voters for what fans felt was the best animated series of 2012 had a very clear winner: the latest version of “My Little Pony.”
That version is “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic,” which premiered in late 2010 on The Hub cable network. “Friendship is Magic” attracted its expected audience of young girls, but also gained a huge following of adult fans, some of whom call themselves Bronies. That series is currently in its third season, and has a sizable internet following all around the world.
On a poll on TV.com for the Best Animated Series of 2012, “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” blew away its competition handily. It had over 5 million votes, which is over 4.5 million more than the second place series, “The Legend of Korra,” an acclaimed spin-off of the popular Nickelodeon fantasy series “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
Adult-targeted series such as “Family Guy” and South Park” placed in the bottom third of the top ten of TV.com’s poll.
