More than 100 people were arrested over the weekend in the largest sex sting the FBI has ever conducted.
Two alleged pimps and three child sex trafficking victims were picked up in Birmingham as part of the nationwide “Cross Country” sting.
Investigators say all five were not from the area but brought in to serve an active market for child sex workers.
"It's something we've been looking at for a while, and it is no surprise to us. We do know that this kind of activity goes on, we think it's under reported, and again this kind of operation underscores that it does happen here," said Paul Daymond of the FBI Birmingham Division.
Investigators say the operation was one of several investigation going on in the Birmingham area.
