A Moody Air Force base spokeswoman says a reported threat that caused the south Georgia base to be placed on lockdown appears to have been a false alarm.
Lt. Cara Bousie told The Associated Press that officials believe a threat reported at the base Wednesday afternoon "doesn't even exist."
She said lockdown conditions have been lifted across the base except for one building, where emergency responders were conducting a precautionary sweep to make sure it was safe.
The lockdown was in effect for approximately 90 minutes. Bousie said she did not known details of the reported threat.
Moody is home to the Air Force's 23rd Wing and 93rd Air Ground Operations Wing. It is located in Valdosta, about 30 miles from the Georgia-Florida state line.
