Mississippi: Soda Ban Ban

Mississippi lawmakers are not fans of New York City's ban on big sugary drinks -- a ban that a judge overturned Tuesday.

They've passed a bill, informally known as the "anti-Bloomberg bill," named after the Big Apple's mayor.

The law says county and city governments in Mississippi cannot ban large sodas or put other limitations on foods and drinks.

The anti-Bloomberg bill is on the desk of Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant, and is likely to get a quick signature.

Mississippi is acting so quickly because many New York laws about nutrition have gone on to be federal laws.

So they could be trying to find a way to get ahead of the mandate.
