UPDATE: Missing Girl Drowns in Gulf

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office has reported that the missing teen reported on Monday has died.

Jade McAllister, 13, of Morganton, Georgia was visiting Panama City Beach with a group from her church.

At 5 p.m. on July 8, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call shortly after 5 p.m. in reference to a missing juvenile.

The call was then changed to that of a swimmer in distress when those looking for the missing teen were told she had been seen swimming in Gulf waters behind the Laguna Christian Retreat at 22107 Front Beach Road.

Deputies arrived to find that the missing girl had been found unresponsive in the water and brought to shore with the help of several bystanders and a paddleboard. Deputies took over resuscitation efforts.

EMS arrived and transported the girl to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her body was turned over to the Medical Examiner for autopsy.

The Bay County Sheriff’s Office says a missing girl was floating found in the Gulf.

Someone called 9-1-1 around 5:15 p.m. Monday afternoon to report a 12-year-old girl was missing from the Laguna Beach Retreat on Front Beach Road.

When deputies arrived four minutes later, the girl had been pulled out of the Gulf.

The girl was unresponsive. EMS crews performed CPR on the way to the hospital.

The girl’s name and condition are unknown at this point in time. This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
